Moving forward:
Worship
Whilst Sunday morning worship is normally held in our individual churches we have also begun to hold United morning celebrations at least twice a year. On June 27, 2010 well over 300 people gathered at Hope Chapel, Liverpool Hope University to celebrate God at work with us. We are also developing clusters whereby three congregations share together in morning worship at least four times a year.
Other recent developments in worship have included ‘Oasis’ a monthly midweek alternative worship service held at Wellington Avenue Church. This has featured Taize – style worship, prayer stations, and a Shabbat-form meal. During July and August we hold united evening worship moving around the churches of the circuit. Elm Hall Drive Church offer ‘Toast’ Young Family Worship once a month on a Sunday afternoon and St Mary’s Halewood offer seasonal Extravaganzas.
Mission
As we unite for worship we are increasingly supporting each other in mission. Our churches have reviewed their local mission priorities and we are encouraging support from members for projects across the circuit. For example, an after school homework club has been established at Princes Park Church, Toxteth with volunteer helpers from four other churches in the circuit as well as other churches in Toxteth. Whenever possible we share in mission with local ecumenical partners. Elm Hall Drive Church shared in hosting an ecumenical Alpha course in 2007 and has been actively involved in subsequent courses. Aigburth Church have recently sold their building and intend to establish a mission base in a shop unit with volunteer support from circuit members and our Children’s and Youth worker.
